As part of our regional revitalization efforts, Pasona Group is announcing the official grand opening of “Craft Circus”, in Hyogo Prefecture’s Awaji Island. The open-air market, open every weekend, provides a venue for customers to enjoy local foods, crafts, and performances. Along with Nojima Scuola and Miele, two other Pasona facilities in the area, Craft Circus “colors in” the time one can spend on the island.
Tourists have been flocking to the weekend market since its preliminary April opening to enjoy food made from local ingredients as well as various goods and crafts. And for our grand opening, we will be unveiling an expansive wooden deck from which to gaze upon an unobstructed view of what has been named one of “Japan’s Top 100 Sunset Views”.
Since antiquity, Awaji has been known for the plentiful food from its mountains and seas. Up until the Heian period, it was one of the three designated miketsukuni regions, areas which were responsible for providing food for the Imperial Court. At Craft Circus, one can taste the same revered and culturally-significant ingredients in seafood barbecues, paellas, and a new steamed crab dish, along with the handmade artwork and crafts that are sold along the street market.
From opening until August 31st, Craft Circus will be open every day for the peak summer season. We are determined to contribute to the revitalization of the Awaji area by creating job opportunities, attracting tourists, and providing an environment within which many people can enjoy its natural beauty.
